looking back on my work

Ok, so most of my work in the last ten years was heavily influenced by anime. Up until now, I guess. I'll have to admit that it's both a good thing and a bad thing. Bad because because whenever I try to draw in "real" style, I end up making him/her look like a cartoon. Good because, well, it's still art.

Anyway, I managed to unearth a few of my old drawings. Check out the dates! I did a lot of fanart back then. It's rather interesting to see how much I've progressed (or not). I think I'll go look for more of my old work. :)

I unearthed some old songs of mind from the various CDs friends burned for me in the last few years. I couldn't help but laugh when I found this one.

I really have no idea where I got this. I haven't really played Parappa the Rapper, so I didn't know that there was a song like this in the game.

It's a pretty fun song, and listening to it (of course, I still don't know what the lyrics mean), I can't help but think, "70s 'dre!" or Saturday Night Fever or something. It must be the beat. Somehow, listening to it, I can't help but want to get up and dance. And I don't mean a nicely choreographed dance, but one where I just jump around not caring a hoot how I'm moving ahaha!

P.S. Off topic: BoA is now a model for Nike Women? I saw her face in one of the ads in their store at Gateway.

I'm posting like crazy now :)

I love DA. I get all sorts of cool things from it. Aside from the awesome tutorials on drawing, photo editing, photo manipulation etc, it's also a great source of leaning about other artists. Bakemono's sent me some links to artists he likes and I send some back.

I was searching for some tutorials on how I could clean up my line art (it's a pain, I tell you) when I came across an picture by this guy who works with a team to produce a cartoon called Joe is Japanese.

Now, I have issues with Western animation outfits making anime-looking cartoons. Most of them I hate, very rarely do I end up liking even one. Avatar I like. Kappa Mikey I don't.

Anyway, there's not much details on Joe is Japanese yet. It's about this half-Japanese, half-Irish guy named Joe McCunney (helluva name huh? And I love his ancestry. Den, Erin and I would have a field day if this guy was real), and how his life goes as a "half-breed". Visit the site, and you get some links to the MySpace profile of each character. Take a look.

Me? I just want to draw.

Short cuts:
- Mom just got a printer/scanner. Got to scan some of my old drawings and will be posting it on my DA... edited or not
- got my graphics tablet, though it's not really mine. It's the office's, but I requested it, and I'll be the one using it so I call it mine. :)
